At 0003 GMT on 29 December 2024 South Korean low-cost carrier Jeju Air experienced a catastrophic crash landing resulting in 179 deaths.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft operating as flight 2216 from Bangkok to Muan was carrying 175 passengers and six crew members.
Preliminary investigations by South Korea’s National Fire Agency suggest the cause may have been related to bird contact, leading to a malfunction in the landing gear.
