On Tuesday 7 January 2025 a Cessna 208 seaplane crashed during takeoff at Rottnest Island.
The incident resulted in three fatalities and multiple injuries.
The aircraft, operated by a local business offering scenic flights, was carrying six passengers. The Australian pilot tragically lost his life along with two passengers – a Swiss woman and a Danish man.
Initial investigations by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) suggest the crash occurred during takeoff. The ATSB has deployed investigators from around Australia to conduct the official investigation.
