A fatal mid-air collision occurred between American Eagle Flight 5342 and a US Army Black Hawk helicopter over Arlington in Virginia at 0200 UTC on 29 January 29 2025.

The Bombardier CR5-700 aircraft, operated by PSA Airlines, an American Airlines subsidiary, was carrying 60 passengers and 4 crew members on a scheduled flight from Wichita (ICT) to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA).

The helicopter (callsign PAT25) was reportedly carrying 3 personnel while conducting a training exercise.

Both aircraft were observed colliding before falling into the Potomac River.

As of 1600 30 January 2025 UTC, 28 bodies have been recovered along with one of the black boxes. Initial reports indicate at least 60 fatalities.
