On the 13th of March we hosted our first ever Space Law Seminar in Canberra. Principal and Founder, Joseph Wheeler, introduced IALPG and what we do, and Special Counsel, Space Law, Duncan Blake, led discussion on the future of Space and Space Law.
We had a variety of different backgrounds and a wealth of industry knowledge in the room, with attendees from a variety of private and public companies and agencies.
IALPG would like to extend a special thank you to everyone who attended to contribute to the interesting discussion, and for being a part of this unique event. Duncan’s presentation proceeded from a simple introduction to space law and Australia’s place in it, to a current and specific update on the state of play with the latest legislation and shortcomings it will need to address in future amendments and associated rule sets.
The varied questions addressed for the audience ranged from issues of the delineation of airspace and outer space, and the potential for Australia’s space industry and service providers to lead certain solutions to the potential problems a fast growing space economy may create.
We hope to see you at our next seminar on an aviation or space law topic of interest!
As IALPG continues to expand, we would like to begin offering more seminars and workshops tailored to this niche industry so keep an eye out for our future events in the newsletter and on our social media.
